Iain Paterson was introduced to Heraldry at an early age through his upbringing in Scotland. His Grandfather, as true Scot was very proud of his heritage and encouraged him to read the wealth of information in the library on the Scottish clan system, their coat-of-arms and history. He proved to be an apt pupil. With an artistic bent and an interest in history Iain continued to be fascinated by the subject and although now in his 60s, the passion is still there. Initially an agriculturist by profession, plaque making started as a hobby and now 20 years on has become a full time occupation

As a one man operation, Iain has confined himself to producing the traditional heraldic shield which he believes is still the best form to display hand painted work to best effect.

The first heraldic shields were those hung in medieval halls for decoration. Down the centuries this tradition has continued, though the shields have generally become smaller in proportion to to-day's homes.
There is no finer decoration for a home that a hand painted shield, beautifully finished on a mount of solid hardwood.
Iain caters for those people who have a pride in their heritage, who appreciate fine craftsmanship, authenticity and personal service.
